EGI

EGI was born in 2001 from a series of grid EU projects.

Now 18 people based in Amsterdam (many Italians), to coordinate the federation of the data + compute structures of research centers, universities, etc. in Europe (approx. 300). Ensures brokerage between users and providers of compute and data services.

Very involved in EU infrastructure programs.
